German is often labelled as a difficult language to learn.

To many people, it can look more complicated than English or the Romance languages, for example. But with the right teaching approach, our course participants learn fast. It’s not long before they enjoy putting their German to everyday use.

TestDaF exams

The TestDaF exam is officially recognised across Germany and tests your ability in German as a foreign language. All German TANDEM schools offer preparation for these exams. Our preparatory courses allow you to practice the exam tasks in simulated exam conditions and improve your language skills. TestDaF is a national standardised test for German as a foreign language in the university context. It covers levels B2 to C1. The TestDaF exam takes place in two formats: digital and paper based. Our schools will advise you on your progress and give you valuable tips to help you pass the exam.

Summer courses

In July and August, the German TANDEM schools offer summer courses for language students from all around the world. Junior courses for students aged 14 to 17 are designed to last 2 to 4 weeks. Especially for young students, motivation and fun are the key to successful learning. All schools make sure to adapt the content of their lessons to the needs of the young participants. In small groups of 10 to 15 people, students practice the four key skills for learning a foreign language: listening, reading, writing and speaking. All schools offer an exciting cultural and leisure programme during these summer courses.

Teacher training

All German TANDEM schools offer advanced training for existing teachers of German as a foreign language. The courses are aimed at European foreign language teachers and other adult education experts who want to refresh their teaching methods and expertise. The seminars are an opportunity to review and expand your personal repertoire of teaching methods. You will learn various methods and exercises to make your lessons more varied, interesting and motivational – both for you and your students. Having a wider range of methods also helps you address different types of learners. Sponsorship through Erasmus+ offers teaching staff and pedagogical specialists many opportunities to develop professionally and to work together in Europe.
